Parents Circle

It takes a village. All parents want to raise healthy and responsible human beings. As American Muslim parents trying to instill faith, pride and service in our kids, we have unique challenges and few spaces to share notes with other parents. It’s not an easy task and no one should do it alone. Become a community of parents helping parents when you join the ICSC Parents Circle. Facilitated by ICSC members Tarek Shawky and Edina Lekovic, the Parents Circle is a safe and supportive environment where parents can be open and honest.

Every Sunday, we teach each other by sharing and learning from our collective experiences, and no topic is off limits. Each session is an opportunity to meet other parents and discuss a common issue we face by drawing on research and tools from parenting experts. From screen time to discipline to nurturing open and honest relationships, we tackle a host of questions faced by parents of all ages.

21st Century Muslims

College-age and young professional participants will enjoy this collaborative and supportive environment that includes educational, spiritual as well as professional development. Discussion topics include a practical approach to applying the Quran, modern and contemporary issues and a diverse look at realities concerning Muslims today. This group considers various lines of reasoning to spur discussion, arrive at new understanding and further our American Muslim identity. The sessions are coordinated and led primarily by Ibrahim Mohamed who brings his unique skills in analysis and organizational development. We also discuss educational plans, career advice, the job-search process, personal finance and other topics dealing with personal development and leadership.

We meet on the second and fourth Sunday of every month.
