The Islamic Center’s Food Pantry is a volunteer-run service program in partnership with the LA Regional Food Bank, which has been regularly serving the Los Angeles Koreatown community since 2004.

The ICSC food pantry has grown to serve 300 people and their households per week since the start of COVID-19, feeding over 4500 people per month. The food pantry is open every Saturday from 9:00AM  – 11:00AM at the back parking lot. We encourage those who need access to the Food Pantry to arrive by 11:00AM. We have taken precautions to ensure that everyone involved is safe and is 6 feet apart from each other in line.

In less than two hours, approximately 6,000 pounds of fresh produce, dry and canned goods, and meat are distributed to about 150 local families. Rain or shine, the program is proud to serve hundreds of needy families all 52 Saturdays a year. The Food Pantry has become a beacon for diversity, unity, and friendship.

A Prophetic Lesson

A man asked the Messenger of God (PBUH), “Which Islam is best?”

Prophet Muhammad said: “To feed the hungry and to greet with peace those you know and those you do not know.”

(This hadith was reported by Abdullah ibn Umar, hadith source: Sahih Bukhari 28, Sahih Muslim 39)
