The Virtual Ramadan Experience

Our goal is to bring the spirit of Ramadan to you whilst you stay safe at home. Join us for our Nightly Ramadan Programs. This includes daily Quran recitation, commentaries from a diverse range of commentators, Isha, and Taraweeh prayers.

Join us for Suhoor Spiritual Mornings on Saturdays and Sundays throughout Ramadan. This will be for one hour before suhoor. These spiritual mornings will last 45 minutes.

We will continue to have our Friday khutbas live-streamed from the Center during Ramadan. Even though our doors can not be open to the public right now, we hope you can join our live-stream on Facebook and our website!

Food Pantry + Community Assistance

This Ramadan, we are highlighting our priority – OUR COMMUNITY. The ICSC food pantry has grown to serve 160 people/week. The food pantry is open every Saturday from 9:30  – 11:30AM at the back parking lot. We encourage those who need access to the Food Pantry to arrive by 11:00AM. We have taken precautions to ensure that everyone involved is safe and is 6 feet apart from each other in line.

The Social Service Committee has delivered Food Boxes to almost 200 families composed of almost 400 at-risk individuals in our ICSC community that are in need. Each box includes halal beef and chicken, fish, rice, flour, sugar, oil, dates, fresh produce, salt, lentils, cooking spices, tea, potatoes, and other cooking essentials.

If you have recently lost your job, in need of assistance, or are unable to leave your home because you belong to an at-risk group, the ICSC can facilitate the critical delivery of groceries, household items, and vital necessities. For more information, please contact info@islamiccenter.com or call 213.382.9200.

Support Your Islamic Center

ramadan 2021 9
The Islamic Center of Southern California thrives on the engagement and support of our community. We have always been and always will be independent and community funded. In these unprecedented times, we count on your more than ever.

With your support, we have created a robust schedule of virtual programs aimed at enriching the mind and spirit while cultivating community. We have also scaled up our community assistance by increasing the hours of operation of our food pantry, delivering iftar food boxes to families at-risk, and partnering with a local restaurant to provide iftar vouchers to those who cannot cook. Beyond this, we are continuously strengthening our ties with our civic and interfaith partners to keep our community informed of resources in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

You have shown us how we can come together and show that our Center is more than a building. We are a true community bonded by faith, friendship, and mutual care. Please be as generous as you can in supporting your community. Your support will help us cover our operating costs during these challenging times and support some of our most vulnerable members.

Purchase Your Dates Today!

The ICSC has partnered with a local Muslim owned business called Nature’s AnthemNature’s Anthem is a date farm in Coachella Valley that grows and sells Medjool dates. We have partnered with them to offer dates to you, your loved ones, or as gifts that can be shipped to your home or anywhere in the United States.

While the doors of the ICSC are temporarily closed, we’re still open virtually and adapting our programs and services. Your financial assistance is needed more than ever at this time. So enjoy a box (or two, or three) of high-quality dates and help support your Islamic Center. We encourage you to buy a box or two for you your family. Dates also make great gifts! For every box purchased using the “ICSC” code, $5 will be donated to the Islamic Center up to $25,000! This is an amazing opportunity to help your Islamic Center in a difficult time. But the matching donation is only good till the end of Laylut-ul-Qadr, so please start buying your dates today!

A Prophetic Lesson

A man asked the Messenger of God (PBUH), “Which Islam is best?”

Prophet Muhammad said: “To feed the hungry and to greet with peace those you know and those you do not know.”

(This hadith was reported by Abdullah ibn Umar, hadith source: Sahih Bukhari 28, Sahih Muslim 39)
