A lifelong active member of the Islamic Center, Dr. Gasser Hathout is a physician who also regularly gives sermons.  He graduated with honors from Harvard University, where he studied economics and was a senior editor of the Harvard International Review. He received his medical degree from David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, is an associate professor of neuroradiology at UCLA and has been a practicing radiologist for more than 20 years. He has authored several books and articles on Islam, including “The American Muslim Identity: Speaking for Ourselves” and “In Pursuit of Justice, and The American Muslim Identity,” which he co-authored with his father, the late Dr. Maher Hathout, a leading figure in the American Muslim community.
