ICSC's statement on the recent outbreak of violence between Palestinians and Israelis
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Palestine & Israel – No Room for Hate & Violence in L.A.
The recent outbreak of violence between Palestinians and Israelis has undoubtedly raised emotions amongst Americans and Angelenos who feel strongly about the respective “side” they support.
However, it seems those emotions have resulted in incidences of violence on the night of May 18 in Los Angeles. News reports show video of individuals in vehicles waving Palestinian flags and provoking / instigating attacks in predominantly Jewish parts of Los Angeles.
Let it be clear, the Islamic Center of Southern California unequivocally condemns all such acts.
There is no room for hate or violence in Los Angeles or anywhere else. While passions about Palestine / Israel may be inflamed, our disagreements should never rise to the level of attacking others.
Disagreement is natural, hate and violence should not be. That would be the devil’s success.
We pray for an end of the violence between Palestinians and Israelis, and we pray for greater respect and harmony in Los Angeles.
May God guide us all as we strive only in His cause.
