There is a lot going on, and a lot to consider during this election. By now all ballots have been mailed to Californians, and even though the vote for President is garnering much of the attention, there are also statewide issues we all need to be aware of. With less than 1 week to go to election day, it’s a good time to learn about the propositions that are ahead of us.
We encourage you to spend the days ahead getting informed, and making your voice heard. This past Sunday, we provided a kick-start to your research with our session on Ballot Propositions presented by Salam Al-Marayati & Aziza Hasan; you can find the recap of the session courtesy of the 2020 California Proposition Guide by the Muslim Public Affairs Council (https://www.taleoftwofutures.com/california). This guide will provide you a quick breakdown of the key points of every proposition on the ballot, and a recommended position.
As Muslim-Americans it is a privilege and a duty to participate in this nation’s democratic process. The right to vote allows us to voice our policy concerns; as a collective we are getting larger, but it’s important for us to remember that each of us play a role in representing our American Muslim identity.
