Mayor’s Youth Council and MYG volunteer at ICSC Food Pantry

On Saturday, the Mayor’s Youth Council stopped by our food pantry to help volunteer and distribute groceries alongside our MYG. The Council falls under the Mayor’s office of Civic and Community Engagement and is comprised of high school youth looking to become more engaged in their local communities while gaining leadership skills. All the youth had fun getting to know each other while working together and serving. Keep your eyes open for another event with the council this spring! And stay on the lookout for an application and how to apply for a spot on the Mayor’s Youth Council in the 2019 – 2020 school year. For more information, contact Wasi Momin (myg@islamiccenter.com)

Did you know… our dedicated volunteers work hard seven days a week to keep our Gr8 Finds thrift store stocked and organized. They collect high-quality, new and gently used clothing, home decor, and small pieces of furniture to raise scholarship money for students at our New Horizon LA and New Horizon West LA campuses? For more information on how to donate or volunteer in the thrift store, please contact Kristen Stangas (programs@islamiccenter.com).
