We are humbled that our previous ICSC Chairperson and current ICSC Civic Liaison Hedab Tarifi was invited to Governor Gavin Newsom’s inauguration on Monday as he was sworn in as the 40th Governor of California. The former Lieutenant Governor and San Francisco Mayor won the largest electoral vote in California in more than half a century. It is crucial that our Islamic Center board, staff and congregation is actively involved in civic engagement. The Center is able to facilitate civic engagement with your support in donations, volunteerism and prayers.
The inauguration started with an interfaith prayer at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The governor and his wife were in attendance. The Islamic Center will continue reaching out and working with the Governor and his office to advance issues of interest to our community, in our great State of California.
On Hedab Tarifi’s way back home she spoke with Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger. She represents the residents of San Gabriel, San Fernando, La Cresenta, San Clarita and Antelope Valleys. They discussed many issues that impact members of our community living in her district. Supervisor Kathryn Barger has welcomed potentially joining a meeting with our ICSC community.
May Allah guide us to do what is best for our Muslim ummah, for our California community and for America at large.
Our beloved Islamic Center of Southern California is on the map!
