ICSC Continues To Employ Additional Security During Ramadan

In light of the news over the past 24 hours from London and Virginia, the Islamic Center of Southern California, in coordination with the LAPD and Pasadena Police Department, is taking steps to increase security for the remaining taraweeh prayers, Lailat al-Qadr and Eid al-Fitr, keeping the safety of our community of paramount importance.

The news out of London of a hate/terror attack on Muslims at the Finsbury Park mosque, and the killing of a 17-year old Muslim girl in Sterling, VA (which is still being evaluated if a hate crime), as well as the recent attack in Portland, Oregon have been a cause for worry for us Muslims in the U.S.
The ICSC understands this.  We have already established multiple “rings” of security at the Center, and our staff has received professional training from the LAPD on how to respond in emergency situations.
In response to these attacks, there will be an increased uniformed law enforcement presence, as well as armed plain clothes presence at our events to have a safe environment for you and your family.
Insha’Allah, such harm will not visit us or any other Muslim organization, but we always seek to be prepared.
May God guide us all as we strive only in His cause.

This is an official statement of the Islamic Center of Southern California.
